Latin Economic Forum

WHAT IS LEF

All of us might wish at times we lived in a more tranquil world,
but we don’t. And if our times are difficult and perplexing,
so are they challenging and filled with opportunity.”
- Robert F. Kennedy
Mission
In 2005, Arthur Navarro founded the Latin Economic Forum (LEF) at the United Nations as
a nonpartisan catalyst for action, bringing together community of global leaders to envision and
implement innovative solutions to some of Latin America’s most pressing problems.
Advisors
LEF advisors include some of the world’s most accomplished leaders and problem solvers—from
business, government and non-governmental organizations—who each make a personal commitment
to take action in one of LEF’s four areas of focus.
Vision
The third Latin Economic Forum meeting will take place in New York City this September. It will
bring together emerging global companies, nonprofit organizations and today’s community leaders
to build a prosperous Latin America. This meeting will create a powerful platform for interaction
and collaboration between traditional and new actors, between North and South.
Areas of Focus
Each year, LEF focuses on four of Latin America’s most pressing areas of challenge. Working sessions
are established to lead the LEF effort in each area. In 2007, working sessions will focus on:
• Innovation
• Energy and Climate Change
• Foreign Direct Investment
• DR-CAFTA
